Continuing Education

Placement Providers Afternoon Forum

The UQ VETS Placement Providers Afternoon Forum will be held on Friday 20 July, 2018.

The Forum will provide Placement Provider training and free CPD for veterinary practitioners.

This is in response to requests from placement providers for guidance on their role on mentoring, training and assessing students and providing feedback on student performance.

Starting at 3pm and finishing around 9.15pm, the forum will allow you to

  • meet with Vet School clinical and teaching staff,

  • undertake placement provider guidance and training,

  • undertake free CPD with the EMS Academic team, and

  • meet final year veterinary science and veterinary technology students over canapes.

Professional development is central to the curriculum in the UQ School of Veterinary Science and this aspect in particular contributes to the School’s “Learning for Life” theme. Our learning environment encourages the acquisition of independent learning skills and instills a desire for lifelong learning.  Continuing education and professional development will assist veterinary professionals to keep current in their area of practice, to keep updated with changes and new advances and improve their level of competence.

The large and diverse group of academic and clinical staff in the School has established an outstanding record of teaching and research to benefit farm and companion animals, their owners and industry sectors.

We have built strategic partnerships and relationships to ensure innovation and excellence in teaching and research as well as clinical and public health services. This is through active engagement with the veterinary profession, alumni, Government, the animal health industry and the community. Provision of broad opportunities in training for specialization, postgraduate studies and continuing veterinary education will enhance our interactions with the profession and develop standards of veterinary practice in Queensland.
