Ashleigh Atfield

Veterinary Technician

BAppSC Veterinary Technology

Ashleigh has always been very passionate about animals, where her very first words were ‘WOOF, WOOF’; leading to her lifelong commitment to caring for the well-being & health of wildlife and companion animals. Ashleigh completed a Bachelor of Applied Science, majoring in Veterinary Technology at UQ Gatton, while working at as a veterinary receptionist in 2010. Prior to this she graduated with a Bachelor degree majoring in Wildlife Biology and Animal Welfare, Behaviour and Control, in 2008 also at UQ Gatton.

She has spent the last 8 years gaining further experience & knowledge in the treatment of critical patients including Paralysis Tick toxicity & Parvovirus patients. Ashleigh was very happy to be returning to UQ Gatton in 2018, this time to work & teach in the UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital as an ICU veterinary technician.

In her downtime, Ashleigh enjoys spending time with her partner at the park with their two dogs, relaxing at home with their two cats or exploring nature both in Australia & overseas.
