Ryan grew up in Singapore and moved to Australia to study Veterinary Science. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 2012, then completed a 12-month surgical internship at Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre before spending two years in small animal general practice in Alice Springs and Adelaide. In 2016, an opportunity opened up in Canberra which saw him starting his second 12-month surgical internship at the Animal Referral Hospital Canberra. The following year, he stayed on and commenced a three-year surgical residency training program with the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) and European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS). In 2018, he became a member of the Surgery chapter of ANZCVS. Ryan has a passion for all aspects of small animal surgery - his primary interests include all things orthopaedics, particularly fracture management, cranial cruciate ligament disease and joint replacements. Outside of work, he aspires to be a full-time food critique, spending countless hours (and money) dining out at various restaurants or different cuisines. He is ownd by three fur kids (two cats and one dog), who all have surgical-themed names; Halsted, Hohmann and Hegar.
