Ophthalmology

James offers a comprehensive evaluation and treatment of eye diseases including, but not limited to:

  • Examination with Binocular indirect ophthalmoscope – fundus/retinal exam
  • Slit lamp biomicroscopy
  • Measurement of intra-ocular pressure
  • Schirmer tear testing
  • Fluorescein staining
  • Ocular ultrasonography
  • Retinal and optic nerve function testing

James offers a wide range of surgeries: 

  • Eyelid surgery (complicated tumour removals, eyelid reconstructions, entropion)
  • Corneal diamond tip burring for indolent ulcers (Boxer ulcers/non healing ulcers/SCCEDS) and superficial corneal calcium deposits in dogs – mostly done fully conscious under local anaesthetic only (no sedation of general anaesthetic)
  • Abnormal hair removal – distichia, ectopic cilia, trichiasis
  • Corneal/conjunctival grafts for ruptured corneas, descemetocele, sequestra, melting ulcers
  • Cataract surgery
  • Lens luxations surgery
  • Cosmetic globe replacement (prosthesis)
  • Laser surgery
  • Tumour removal
  • Cryosurgery
  • Glaucoma shunt surgery
